Freshness-Gated Alerts
Stop alerting people about deals and posts whose validity window already closed.
Works with: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Muse · Version 1.0.0 · Needs: A monitored source whose items carry date or validity signals, or a clear first-appearance fallback.
What you get
- Validity parsing from title, description and metadata before any push decision
- Gate logic: expired means skip and log, closing soon means lead with remaining time
- Honest labelling when no validity signal exists — first appearance, stated as such
- Four test cases covered: expired yesterday, expiring today, no date found, malformed date
About this Skill
A monitoring skill that reads the content's own clock before pushing. It parses validity windows from titles, descriptions and metadata — date ranges, valid-until dates, event dates — and gates the alert on that window. Expired items are logged as expired instead of pushed; items closing soon lead with the time left.
Try it
/freshness-gated-alerts Watch this deals feed and only alert me while each deal is still valid.
Good fit
- Deal, tag and article monitors that alert on first appearance
- Anyone burned by pushing an already-expired offer to a group
Not for
- Sources where recency genuinely does not matter
- Inventing an expiry the content never stated

FAQ
What if an item has no date at all?
It pushes normally but is labelled as first-appearance. The skill never invents an expiry the content did not state.
Do expired items disappear?
No. They are kept in a separate log you can browse — skipped does not mean invisible.
